Time and sound

Introduction

In the last lesson we learnt about conceptualization what do you remember about that lesson? In today's lessons we are going to look at time and sound in the creative (theoretical) perspective, for example define what is time? And what do you understand by sound? Ask the student to give examples of different sounds.

Activities

    Work: (180 min)
  • Trainer: Information: what is time what is sound
  • Trainer: Assignment giving and exercise
Assignment 1: Research on sound: finding a sound that represents you. Co-operate ID in sound
Assignment 2: Play all sound at once
Assignment 3: Reading/ telling a story at different speeds

Warming up
15 mins
Sound, listening, recalling
First of all make three groups which consist of 5 students each. Each group has to come up with their unique sound for example group A can choose to have the sound of a cow and so on. After that the 4 students in each group has to be blind folded. So the remain 3 are the ones who are going to produce the sound and the ones who are blind folded has to find their group sound source. Just remember to mingle the groups.
- after the warm up just ask the students what were the challenges and the most interesting part etc.

Exercises
Sound research

Assignment 1:
Research on sound:- Find a sounds on the internet. This time we will not listen to music but we will try to find different sounds. Each student to find a sound that would represent them. Remember we presented ourselves with colours and shape so this time its sound. This is an example of sound website. http://www.flat33.com/bzzzpeek/
NB: if you can't find anything on the net make your on sound!

Assignment 2:

Play all sound at the same time for 5 seconds then student to say whether its positive or distractive (this is just a small exercise to see how can sound affect our environment)

Assignment 3:

Reading/ telling a story! Here each student will be given time to read the story on their own and then they will be required to tell the same story in different time frame that is:

  1. Tell the story in 10 seconds
  2. Tell the same story in (5min)
  3. Tell the same story in (? min)

NB: Take different student for each. Here we will see how time affects us in getting certain information. This will help the student to note the key points for their audience for example while making presentations and contents of their websites where in most cases people doesn't read long sentence that doesn't sound appealing or attractive and on the other hand they have less time to read the content.

Presentation and discussion
Here students are going to present their sound to the group and explain why that sound associates with him/her for example my braveness or politeness!!
Brainstorming session
Trainer can ask question like:
- Ask the students to tell how they usually manage their time!
(2 boys and 2 girls)
- Just imagine if there wasn't sound in today life how would life be!
(tell us what you think)
- When do you say a particular sound is positive?
And when do you say it's destructive?
- How has sound been used in the daily life?
- Does sound plays a role as a co-operate ID for a product or a person?
- What sound would you associate by yourself (for example mine would be a roaring of a lion to show my braveness, strengths and eagerness.
- When is proper time management required? Is it everyday or on a particular assignment? (what do you feel)

(In this area we find sound has been used in many ways for example for income generating whereby making of music for sale the other area is advertising of a product sound really draw attention. This are just 2 example students need to come up with more)

Closing Talk
- Prepare students for the next lesson -
just tell them in brief what the next lesson will be about.
- Give evaluation forms.
- Ask what they have learnt that they didn't know before.
