Therefore we will also see how font style in relation to colours and shape contribute in choosing something and also on the other hand why using specific fonts style for a certain purpose for example in wedding and birthday cards, in magazine or in newspapers. Have you notice why for example newspaper use certain font style and also why do they not change the font or text style in each daily newspaper? Story board using letters: what happened when 2 letters met
- What is a story board? --- This is telling of a story in visual form meaning having some clip/step in form pictures or graphic illustrations that help convey the story.

- Give each student a sheet of paper. Ask them to choose their 2 favourite letters whereby they will have to make a story board out of it

NB: Make a story board of six points showing for example if your favourite letters are A and G. show what happened when A met G at the end

Trainer
Text as a design -
To come up with a text you need to use letters or characters that will make the text, so has we understand there are millions of text styles or fonts but it depends on how you use it!! Is for readability purpose? Attraction or design?
These are questions you need to ask yourself before you choose a font. Remember you can use other fonts/text in other language to come up with a design for example text in Chinese's can be used to make a certain pattern for your website or printouts.

Tip: Trainer use the three handouts as a basis for your introduction to this topic

2 Exercises
120 mins

Exercises explained:
Assignment 1:- choose your favourite letter and decorate it in different size and style on one sheet. Make different style as possible (maximum 15 copies)

Assignment 2:- Use the letters of you names to make as many other words as possible the least number of words are six but you can make many as possible. NB- use only the words that makes your name

NB: Use different sheet of paper for each exercise- choose different fonts on the computer.

Tip This work should be saved for MYSELF project plus the warm –up part
Presentation and discussion
Each student to present theirart work to the group and tell what they wanted to achieve. And also try to up with names for the new font style they have created.
Brainstorming session
Here it is going to be a class brain storming session whereby the trainer asking questions.Trainer can ask question like:-How has font been used in the daily life? For example road signs.- Does font style in relation to colours and shapes affect us for example in purchasing a product?- Why do certain multimedia use the same font style on there product for example newspaper.-
Closing Talk
60 mins
